The over/under for the game has been set at 33, while the moneyline stands at Steelers -245 and Patriots +200. The Patriots head into Week 14 as 6-point road underdogs to the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. It will be miserable, and I’m hammering the under.Ĭheck out DraftKings Sportsbook, the official sportsbook partner of SB Nation. The New England Patriots have lost five games in a row, and if the oddsmakers are to be believed that streak will continue on Thursday night. It’lll end up something like 13-11 with an overtime safety winning the game. This game is going to set football back three decades. Is there any chance we will see this game hit the over? Our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook have the over/under for this game at 30 points, the lowest since 1993 when the 2-11 Patriots defeated the 1-12 Bengals in a 7-2 snoozer. The inside linebackers room has taken a massive hit this year with injury, so I expect the Pats to target them often.ĥ. They need to finish when they get their hands on Zeke, or any offensive player for that matter. It’s been a problem for a long while, and it was put on display against the Cardinals last week. The Steelers stink at tackling, to be frank. Are there any holes in this Steelers front? Or will both sides be banging their heads against a wall with backup quarterbacks? The Patriots lost their best offensive player, and one of the league’s best backs in Rhamondre Stevenson, but Ezekiel Elliott’s finish and tough running make him a solid fill-in. He’s going to be a force, it’s just about can a team limit him as much as possible?Ĥ. But we know what Watt is - he’s tremendous. He’s had at least half a sack in six straight games, and he’s facing somewhat of an uphill battle with the lack of holding calls that come his way. At the time fans were up in arms, but now that loss looks much different in hindsight. The Texans held him without a sack in Week 3. Has anyone managed to slow him down? How does New England keep him from wrecking the game? Watt is having another phenomenal season. Mike Onwenu had his first rough game since switching from guard to tackle in Week 7, likely because he faced his first elite edge defender in Khalil Mack. At most, Warren is clearly the better back.ģ. It’s clear though that at minimum, he and Jaylen Warren are even in skill set. In recent weeks, the snap counts have looked more and more even (see the Packers game), but the franchise is going to give Najee Harris every opportunity because he was a first-round pick and they don’t want to look foolish for taking him so high. He played like this last season, too, he just didn’t get nearly enough touches. Why is his role so limited? Will he be the bell-cow if Najee Harris can’t play? Where the heck did Jaylen Warren come from? Statistically, he’s been the league’s best back since November, and the tape has backed it up. We can acknowledge Mike Tomlin’s accomplishments, but also acknowledge the team has been mediocre for over half a decade and that a new direction should at minimum be discussed.Ģ. The comparison I’ve made all year is Andy Reid’s last few years in Philadelphia. Also, it just feels like this thing has run its course. It’s clear they weren’t prepared, and Jaylen Warren and Diontae Johnson’s comments on taking Arizona lightly confirm that. The loss to the Cardinals falls 100 percent on Tomlin. But multiple players essentially saying they didn’t take the Cardinals seriously after last week’s loss seemed uncharacteristic for Pittsburgh, especially since it clashed with Tomlin’s statement. The team seemed galvanized through their winning streak, and I thought Matt Canada’s exit might light a spark. I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but is Mike Tomlin losing the locker room amidst a late-season skid? You can find our answers here, and this is what Jarrett told us about the upcoming game.ġ. Meet again the two teams still will on Thursday night, so to get a better understanding of who the Patriots will be up against in Week 14, we exchanged questions with Jarrett Bailey of Pats Pulpit’s sister site Behind The Steel Curtain - the SB Nation community for all things Steelers. Oh, how the times have changed, especially with the Patriots in the midst of a 2-10 season. For the last two decades, almost every meeting between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers was must-see football - two of the NFL’s best and most successful franchises meeting in high-stakes games.
